I started the event as a project of Green Enterprise Toronto, and now we produce it as a benefit for innovation food and farming in the Toronto region. This year’s partner and beneficiary is Not Far From the Tree, a group that harvests and distributes fruit from urban trees.

We looked at several remarkable organizations in the Toronto region and decided that Not Far From The Tree stood out for several reasons. It’s heart-warming and practical at the same time, dealing with a hidden food resource right in the city, in a way that serves both food banks and property owners, with an army of enthusiastic volunteers.

Unlimited tastings from the locavore kitchens of Order of Canada member Jamie Kennedy, as well as Food Network celeb Lynn Crawford. Brad Long, and several others, paired with a wide variety of our fine Ontario craft beers, cider, mead and wine. Great entertainment including with the David Buchbinder jazz quartet with singer Sienna Dahlen whose voice is “filled with molten light” according to Katie Malloch, CBC Radio.
